GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Undergraduate Business Career Advancement Manager provides guidance in areas of personal and professional development for Undergraduate Business School students including career coaching and career related services/programming to support the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Career Advancement, performing specific duties in identified areas and working independently toward carrying out departmental objectives utilizing the knowledge and application of departmental and University policies and procedures. Moreover, the Manager will develop strategy and implement the planning, development, and administration of career and employment assistance programs for students. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Student Advising and Programming Handle portfolio of student advisees, including but not limited to conducting one-on-one advising meetings with undergraduate business students, topics to include defining career objectives and options, identifying relevant majors/minors to compliment specific career goals, conducting internship and job searches, resume review and detailed resume revision work, networking strategies, employer outreach and follow up, and mock interviews Support the Assistant Dean in facilitating and conducting training and skill development course and programs to include resume preparation, internship and job search strategies, interviewing skills, networking and negotiating salaries Assist in providing feedback and evaluating student performance in sophomore career course, including resume review and mock interviews Support the Assistant Dean in identifying “best fit” students for particular employment opportunities Assist as needed in compiling of internship and full-time opportunities placement data for students and alumni Assist students in understanding industry characteristics, job specifications/requirements, industry vocabulary, and industry/employer culture Create and present a variety of career programs and workshops in support of student career outcomes Employer Development Participate in development efforts with regional and national companies through outreach, marketing and deepening of existing relationships Support Assistant Dean and Program Manager with the development and maintenance of an effective employer relationship program Research, identify and develop potential new employment opportunities and employer relationships Represent the University of Miami at various corporate functions to gain exposure in the Miami community GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct individual advising appointments on a daily basis Maintain high level of contact with employers to ensure employers meet recruiting goals Research and source employment opportunities anew new employer relationships Participate in weekly meetings with team members Assists with collection and reporting of career outcomes for compliance and rankings KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (KSA): Knowledge of business and management principles and professional business etiquette Entrepreneurial, growth mindset with ability to think quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment Skills in assessing, organizing, and prioritizing multiple tasks Positive can-do attitude with strong written communication and editing skills Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills Strong industry experience in recruiting, hiring and training Ability to develop professional relationships with students and employers Ability to assess, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks Ability to monitor industry trends and hiring environment Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Proficiency with internet use and research Ability to present to small and large audiences on career-related topics Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
