Position Summary: Reporting to the Sr. Director of Analyst Relations, the Analyst Relations Manager establishes, nurtures, and builds relationships with technology industry analysts to maintain and enhance F5's credibility and thought leadership with these constituents. The primary objective is to ensure that key influencers support F5's story as those industry analysts interact with customers/prospects, partners, journalists, and financial analysts. Another objective is to facilitate the exchange of expertise and insight from analysts to F5’s product development staff, informing F5’s strategy and solution creation processes with an expert external perspective. This role provides an individual with the right mix of curiosity, follow-through, and strategic mindset with an opportunity to work with the tech industry’s smartest and most critical minds in cloud computing, security, and enterprise IT. This position has high visibility inside F5 and has the potential to have a material impact on F5’s entire business. A results orientation is key; this isn’t the position for those of a bureaucratic, process-driven mindset. Primary Responsibilities: Effectively assess and address the needs of relevant analysts as it relate to their research needs and customer inquiries about F5. This primarily includes support for analyst market share reports, vendor profiles, competitive market reports, and customer-generated questions about F5. Manage analyst outreach strategy to ensure accurate, comprehensive and consistent coverage of F5. This encompasses products, company, partnership and channel-related information and includes the synthesis of Corporate Marketing, Product Management, and Product Marketing messaging for analyst outreach. This objective is important in supporting the F5 "solution-selling" strategy. Manage F5 vendor or product ratings and industry analyst reports ranking F5’s products and services, including Gartner Magic Quadrants/Critical Capabilities and Forrester Waves. Proactively reach out and broaden relationships with relevant analysts to ensure that F5 is well-positioned and top-of-mind with analysts who influence the opinions of the market, particularly customers/prospects, journalists and financial investors. This includes providing strategic guidance to both Product Management and Product Marketing personnel as it pertains to outreach. Leverage analyst research and relationships to provide supporting evidence to help F5 salespeople close business. This includes understanding the research and reporting cycles of key analysts, as well as identifying, analyzing, producing and disseminating relevant information in a timely and digestible manner. Support F5 personnel in need of analyst market research information to support/enhance their functions. Departments such as Sales and Marketing often require specific market data/research to support their claims. This includes fielding individual requests, as well as notifying Product Management of new research as it becomes available, providing summaries of research conclusions and significant findings, and coordinating with the Finance department in making purchasing decisions. Provide key direction for programs such as annual IT analyst conference, executive relationship programs, strategic consulting sessions, analyst events, and leadership tours. Perform other related communications and/or marketing duties as assigned. Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies. Qualifications: 5 years’ experience in IT industry analyst relations in a vendor or agency role; IIAR or KCG certification is preferred Track record of successful relationship development with Gartner advisory analysts. An undergraduate degree in communications, public relations, business, or a related field is required. A graduate degree in a related field is preferred. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills as a public-facing role. The individual must be articulate, professional and have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with a wide range of personalities. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Experience working with all levels of executives, customers and analysts. Understanding of enterprise technology sales environment. Strong project management and organization skills. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material. Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 20% of the time spent traveling.
