Determines architecture design and circuit level specifications based on system level requirements. Is actively involved in all aspects of the design from system definition/simulation to circuit design and simulation. Heavy involvement in overseeing layout and silicon evaluation is also expected. Requires expertise in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: power electronics (switch mode and linear), control theory, precision oscillators, high accuracy data converters and analog front ends, high bandwidth linear amplifiers, very low power references, electro-migration and transistor reliability, behavioral modeling and UVI techniques. Uses design tools such as Cadence ADE, MathWorks MATLAB, Verilog/VerilogAMS, System Verilog and others. Provides technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 years of analog or mixed-signal integrated circuit design experience and 5 years of ASIC design, verification, or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 5 years of ASIC design, verification, or related work experience. OR PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field and 3 years of ASIC design, verification, or related work experience. 2 years of experience using one or more of the following design tools: CADENCE, SPICE, MATLAB, Verilog/VHDL. Preferred Qualifications: 6 years of experience in transistor level design of analog or mixed-signal integrated circuits with a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering. 3 years of experience analog or mixed-signal integrated circuit design experience with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with internship or publication. 6 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Power Electronics, Control Theory, Precision Oscillators, High Accuracy Data Converters and Analog Front Ends, High Bandwidth Linear Amplifiers, Very Low Power References, Electro-Migration and Transistor Reliability, Behavioral Modeling, or UVI Techniques 1 years in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports (only applies to positions with direct reports). 1 years of experience working in a large matrixed organization. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Uses tools/applications (i.e., Cadence ADE, MATLAB, etc.) to execute advanced architecture and design of complex blocks, module, or chip makes suggestions for design specifications and requirements. Owns the design and verification strategies of PMICs, reviews the strategies of more junior team members and develops strategies for a block, module, or chip. Guides layout engineers independently to generate the layout of circuits and conduct physical verification of the layout. Runs advanced functionality checks on a chip or module to ensure design specifications are met; makes recommendations to leadership when specifications are not met. Interprets the results of highly complex performance checks and reports them to team lead. Documents complex details about materials, components, and functionality for a PMIC and/or PMU while being mindful of potential compatibility, safety, and compliance issues; assists less experienced engineers in their documentation of these details. Displays deep knowledge in a specific area; acquires advanced knowledge of industry trends, competitor products, and advances in the Power Management field from publicly available information; shares knowledge with others on team and helps less experienced engineers understand and apply advanced concepts. Contributes to conversations to generate new ideas for next generation initiatives; provides recommendations for new directions to explore. Level of Responsibility: Working independently with little supervision. Providing some supervision/guidance to others. Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct. Using verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question. May require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc. Working within prescribed budget and resources. Completing most tasks with multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework. Exercising substantial creativity to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives. Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or incomplete; advanced data analysis/interpretation skills may be required. Occasionally participating in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations. The responsibilities of this role do not include: Supervising direct reports.
