Position:
We are seeking a highly motivated biochemist for a Principal Scientist position to support the development of novel enzymes for nucleic acid-based diagnostic technologies. The position requires hands-on experience in the protein engineering, protein purification and screening methods. Prior experience in the automatic liquid handling, PCR assay technology and analytic methods is desirable. The successful candidate will contribute to research and development of key reagents for molecular diagnostics technologies, and will enjoy working as a team member on cross-functional projects of the entire R&D organization.
Requirements:
PhD in Biological/Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or equivalent
field. 2 years of relevant experience preferred
Excellent written and oral communication.
Performs all work using best laboratory practices and maintain a well–organized
and accurate record of experimental methods and results in electronic laboratory
notebook.
Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office basics, proficiency with Excel
spreadsheets.
Presents scientific findings at groups meetings. Applies technical writing skills in
preparing reports, summaries, memos, presentations, manuscripts, etc.
Ability to work under deadlines; good time-management skills
Ability to work in the lab for multiple hours per day
Ability to work well in teams and across disciplines
Collaborates with inter and intra-departmental scientist
Serves as a resource to other groups and departments (Chemistry, Analytics,
Assay Development, Manufacturing/Operations) and provides timely response
and follow-ups.
Ensure that all training activities are up-to-date.
Track and maintain resources and laboratory supplies.
Desired Skills:
Experience with protein engineering, protein expression, protein purification, and
HTP screening.
Laboratory experience with modern molecular biology tools and techniques.
Experience with automatic liquid handling
Prior experience with qPCR and/or RT-qPCR methods is beneficial.
Prior experience with analytical methods (HPLC, UPLC, mass spectrometry) is
beneficial.
Experience in experimental design and interpretation.
