Job Description U.S. Bank has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Data Architecture to lead a team of data architects and support application development. As part of our digital transformation, you will immerse yourself in solving complex business problems through innovation and proven and repeatable engineering practice. You will partner with application development teams and other Technology, Operational and Product teams across the group and the firm, developing an extensive personal network that will allow you to influence and provide technical and architectural leadership and mentoring. You will work on multiple projects which will require differing approaches for success and will depend heavily on collaboration with our colleagues to deliver business results. As the Director, Data Architecture, you will be considered the Subject Matter Expert on Data, Information Architecture and Data Management - working closely and collaboratively with the project development teams, ensuring that the design is implementable, and that delivery is consistent with the agreed design. Essential Requirements: Experience in application, data, and infrastructure architecture and design disciplines, including API design Strong experience of several major technology implementation projects Strong data orientation and experienced in data analysis and data mining (hands on experience) Knowledge of core Information Architecture capabilities, including Master and Reference Data Management, Data Quality (DQ), Metadata Management, Data Taxonomy, Data Integration, Data Migration and Data Modelling Experience in creating, contributing to and reviewing Architecture and Development artefacts such as Conceptual, Logical and State Data Models Strong working knowledge and experience of Relational and NoSQL Data Modelling and use of alternative Data Modelling tools such as Erwin, Power Designer, Hackolade Knowledge of different data modelling methodologies such as 3NF, Deformalized (Star Schema), Data Vault, XML Schema etc. with the ability to read and understand data models presented in a variety of formats. Ability to collaborate with business teams in order to understand, translate, review and playback requirements into Logical Data Models, Interface Specifications, Taxonomies and Controlled Vocabularies Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals Ability to understand, communicate and operate at Business, Technical, Application and Technology levels of Data and Information Architecture Effective communication and presentation skills both to business and technical audience Excellent and proven analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to decompose a large problem into smaller executable pieces Responsible for design and development of data modeling using modern techniques for various entities with enterprise in scope Work with various engineering, business line functions to drive the data products for enterprise scale and instill the big picture in scope on every step of development Apply end user perspectives and security standards in design to drive the performance Responsible for designing, developing, testing, operating and maintaining architecture of various data products at the bank Embraces emerging technology opportunities and contributes to the best practices in support of the bank's technology transformation. Contributes to a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement. Reviews tasks critically and ensures they are appropriately prioritized and sized for incremental delivery. Anticipates and communicates blockers and delays before they require escalation. Working experience/knowledge in a large-scale data product involving data modeling, ETL and analytics Utilizes technical expertise and leadership skills to resolve issues, ensure product goals are met, and serve as a mentor to coach and support junior engineers to continue to raise the engineering bar across the organization Defines the team's roadmap in line with the company and technology vision Proficient understanding of algorithms, data structures, architectural design patterns and best practices Adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, problem-solving and analytical skills Proven collaboration and influencing skills Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience Ten or more years of relevant software engineering and data architecture experience Eight or more years of experience leading a lead data architecture team Key Responsibilities: Definition and documentation of current state and future state Data Architecture Collaborate and design conceptual, logical and state data models and supporting the physicalizing of the models to support the target state architecture. Assist/Define the definition, communication and implementation of data policies, standards and processes Develop, own and manage the data modelling best practices, patterns and standards. Ensure appropriate enterprise data/information policies, principles and standards are adhered to and implemented throughout project delivery.
