Summary We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Engineer - who has a strong background in Server Side Development to join our software development team in Ipswich, UK. As a Software Engineer you will be primarily responsible for the development of Server components. The role will involve analysis, design, programming, testing and deployment of new and existing functionality. With us, you will work with other highly talented developers, with plenty of opportunities for you to learn new technologies and share your learnings. Key Responsibilities Participate in the complete product development cycle starting from analysis , architecture, design, coding , unit integration and system testing of software. Estimate, plan, organize and execute assignments and manage time efficiently with very little or moderate supervision Present work to the team for review or other purposes. Adhere to software development best practices and follow company guidelines Develop features as part of deliveries to support Test Automation - be involved in assuring quality throughout the development process. Required Skills and Experience Experienced in Java server side development and an understanding of Databases / SQL Sound knowledge of Spring framework with Spring Boot Good grounding/understanding of good design principles Have a Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science, Science, Engineering or equivalent experience. Have a high degree of initiative, flexibility and drive. Have excellent written, oral and visual communication skills to explain complex information. You should be able to communicate effectively with team members both in the UK and globally and work in a collaborative way to build consensus. Enjoy and work well in a team-based environment, as well as being self-motivated to individually succeed. Experience in complete product life cycle starting from analysis , architecture, design, coding unit integration and system testing of software. Experience in the tools required in a development life cycle Understand best practices of modern Software Engineering including Agile Software Development, Automated Testing, Configuration Management principles and DevOps. Be willing and able to assist less experienced colleagues and able to lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements. Desirable Skills and Experience Some understanding of the following technologies would also be advantageous: Experience with Linux environments and scripting using Unix shell C/C , Go Experience with SVN or GIT based change management platform. Some DBA knowledge Oracle/Postgres Databases procedural languages such as PL/SQL and PL/plSQL Information About Your Location This position enables you to work in a hybrid environment at Trimble’s office in Ipswich, UK. While working in close contact with your colleagues at the office you will be able to work from home selected days a week. More remote working options negotiable in the future.
