This position works out of our Plymouth location in the SH division.

Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life by designing and providing device and management solutions for treating structural heart disease.
What You’ll Work On
The Senior Staff Software Architect will provide technical leadership and significant influence within a high performing software and firmware development team that is redefining the treatment of structural heart disease. The incumbent will provide leadership on a systems level to build out a product ecosystem of novel devices and will draw support from internal and external resources to achieve objectives while also serving as an individual contributor in key areas of risk and novelty. The incumbent will work cross-functionally and exercise influence across the organization, both horizontally and vertically.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar. Masters degree / PhD preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience in software development (7 years exp with Master’s, 2 years exp with PhD.)
- A track record of increasing scope, complexity and technical leadership.
- Ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization and work within and across both the strategic and tactical space of software development.
- Ability to translate high-level business objectives to a tactical plan and allocate prioritized tasks to a software team with a mix of skillsets and experience.
- Experience in developing, authoring, testing and managing software requirements.
- Fluency in common coding language such as C, C#, C , JavaScript, etc.
- Knowledge and application of systems engineering principles.
- Strong familiarity with a variety of development tools (IDEs, configuration management systems, debuggers, unit test frameworks).
- Ability to work cross-functionally to address areas of ambiguity.
- Agility in addressing emerging issues and implementing creative strategies to keep team on track.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experienced in the sequential phases of the medical device development from early feasibility and VOC through development, test, commercial launch, and post-market support.
- Familiarity common with development methods/frameworks used in software, such as Waterfall, Agile, Spiral, etc.
- Experienced in developing Class B and C medical device software subject to IEC 62304 software development life cycle processes and other global regulatory standards.
- Experience in developing devices that work together as a product ecosystem that consist of multiple connectivity stacks, OS’s and functional characteristics.
- Linux OS (e.g., Ubuntu, YOCTO) configuration and cybersecurity hardening.
- Experience in the use / deployment of a requirements management tool, such as DOORS, JAMA or Cognition Cockpit.
- Experience in indirect or direct people leadership.
- Experience in first-in-human and pivotal clinical trials.
- Experience and/or familiarity with cardiac anatomy and interventional cardiology.
