Job Summary
Under the direction of the Shift Leader and Production Supervisor, the Production Associate is responsible for the set up and operation of equipment which blends/mixes/extrudes/packages/ transports the liquid or dry chemicals that comprise our customer products. The Production Operator ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible costs while meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with Avient policies and procedures. This position has openings available on 3rd Shift with typical 3rd shift hours of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. We also have the occasional opportunity to work overtime with 10 or 12-hour shifts or weekends so flexibility is a must. Starting hourly rate at $21 per hour with shift differential pay $2.00 per hour for 3rd shift. This role will also pay the following sign-on bonuses: $1,500 at 6-months employed.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates & meets qualification on blending, packaging, weighing operations & fork lift.
- Demonstrates team work in all phases of operation.
- Sets up and starts all machines, checking all controls for adherence to procedures.
- Weighs ingredients to meet recipe specification and inserts into machinery.
- Monitors production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Troubleshoots equipment and processing issues.
- Operates machinery to mix, discharge or handle materials according to operating procedures.
- Examines materials visually or physically to ensure conformance with established standards.
- May take samples of materials to lab for evaluations and instructions.
- Refers issues/problems to lead/supervisor for disposition.
- Performs all required machine cleaning
- Completes and maintains all required computer inputs. Responsible for data integrity.
- Documents work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
- Participates in training, retraining and continual improvement processes and methods.
- Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
- Supports the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company.
- Follows all rules, laws and procedures related to HS&E, ISO and other regulations.
- Other projects / duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- US High School diploma or GED equivalency
- Two (2) years of industrial/manufacturing experience
- One (1) year experience operating a forklift preferred
Qualifications
- Must have mathematical skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide and to apply these skill to weights, measures of volume and distance.
- Must effectively communicate in writing and verbally in English.
- Competency in computer and PC software including email, internet, and MS office.
- Must have manual dexterity for hand tools of various types.
- Must be able to drive fork lift.
- Must have problem solving skills and some mechanical aptitude.
