POSITION SUMMARY
Identifies opportunities to service the membership by simplifying lives and recognizing needs. Executes work to ensure the mortgage process is timely and efficient, while building rapport and maintaining a membership mindset every day. Evaluates the effectiveness of productivity by knowing the business impact of the results that are generated and the decisions that are made. Connects the membership with the right assistance during the mortgage process.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
What does this position do?

Process 1st and 2nd mortgage applications from the beginning to the end, maintaining contact with all parties involved including members to update them on the status of the process. This position will serve as the communicator to the member to provide answers to member’s questions regarding the process and uncovers money matter needs. This position is also responsible for coordinating all paperwork associated with the loan process.

Who does this position work with to get the job done?

Membership, Vendors, Branches, Lending, Member Services, and Risk. This position will not only communicate with internal team members to complete the mortgage loan process; but also communicate to provide status updates in an efficient and professional manner.

What does the work from this position produce or generate?

Effective & timely membership service, accurately processed mortgages, completed responsibilities related to the mortgage process including verifications, calculations, titles ordered, closing packages prepared, and mortgages funded while adhering to all requirements set by regulations and internal expectations. Continuously strive to improve efficiencies through process changes and/or technology utilization. Recommend changes and improved processes with supporting data.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Focuses on the details to ensure accuracy, and recognizing the priorities to meet deadlines.

• Completes necessary responsibilities regarding the mortgage process including verifications, calculations, ordering title documents, preparing closing packages, and funding mortgages.
• Maintains application and disclosure information for mortgage loans, verifying accuracy of information.
• Delivers mortgage loan files to underwriting for approval, to the title insurance company for closing, and fully completed and documented loan applications to purchasers within established time standards.
• Engages in follow-up and review of necessary documentation after closing to ensure completion and member satisfaction.

Considers all information before reaching a conclusion and determining a course of action.

• Reviews loan application file to verify that application data is complete, accurate, and meets establishment standards.
• Obtains necessary documents from applicants, such as tax returns, bank account information, purchase agreement, and property description.
• Determines if applicant meets required standards for further consideration, using the manual and calculator as references.

Explains the process and its components clearly and can answer questions with confidence and resolution.
· Increases member satisfaction by being highly responsive to the needs of members.

• Informs applicant of necessary costs and fees, inconsistent information obtained for the mortgage process, and missing signatures on authorization forms.
• Keeps in consistent contact with vendors to obtain survey, appraisal, title insurance, etc. while monitoring vendor turn-around time to facilitate quality member service.

Knowledge Requirements

• _ Experience in processing conventional, government and construction mortgages._
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Detailed knowledge of underwriting and closing procedures.
• Exercises judgment within defined practices and policies.
• Ability to analyze work flow and develop procedural modifications.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain composure and positive attitude at all times.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or equivalent
• College degree or equivalent experience, preferred
• 2-4 years’ residential mortgage processing experience
