POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to enable the provision of quality liturgical celebrations, funeral celebration, and receptions, and provide supportive administrative services to the Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation as it pertains to Baptism preparation and RCIC; to the Pastor as it pertains to R.I.C.A.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Collaborates with the Pastor and other staff in implementing the mission of the parish. This is accomplished by participating in the comprehensive planning, implementation and evaluation of 2019-2024 parish long-range goals and objectives that focuses on Liturgy. Incumbent serves as a professional resource to parish staff regarding Liturgy.
B. Develops and organizes plans that will respond to parish worship and prayer needs. Will ensure the quality of liturgical season, sacramental and other special celebrations throughout the liturgical year. Oversees the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of liturgical celebrations.
C. Coordinates the Liturgy Planning Team in spirit of “Divine Renovation” that develops and implements plans that enhances the weekend celebrations in collaboration with the pastor, Pastoral Assistant for Music, Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation and the liturgy commission members.
D. Supervises and collaborates with the Pastoral Assistant for Music.
E. Coordinates ministries to lead Communion Services when a priest is not available to preside at daily Mass. If ministers are not available, the incumbent may lead Communion Services.
F. Coordinates and/or leads the recruiting, screening, training, and support of the Hospitality ministers, Eucharistic Minister that includes the homebound and communion services, lector, ushers, sacristan, altar servers and acolytes. In addition, ensures the laundering of linens, weekly church cleaners and environment ministers.
G. Collaborates with the Pastor as it relates to RCIA in liturgical planning and RCIA rites..
H. Collaborates with the Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation in liturgical planning as it relates to Baptism, RCIC, First Eucharist and First Reconciliation, and may include Sacrament of Confirmation.
I. Materials are readily available for ministries and liturgy. This is accomplished by monitoring the purchases of necessary church supplies, workbooks, albs, and ministerial booklets. Assures that church environment is prepared and suitable for liturgies.
J. Serves as staff member to the Liturgy Commission. This is accomplished by notifying members of the meeting dates, developing the agenda, leading the meeting and being a resource person.
K. Assists the Wedding Coordinator by sending out packets, updating wedding schedule and distrusting ceremony information, and ensures Wedding paperwork is collected and Marriages recorded.
L. If requested, meets, and supports grieving families to plan a funeral reception.
This person needs to be practicing Catholic, have a B.A. or master’s degree in theology. Prefer a person experience in liturgical coordination and planning.
