Location Mebane, United States of America Sandvik Machining Solutions in Mebane, NC is looking for a Design Engineer Designing metal cutting tools is about puzzling out the pieces required to build the most efficient tool possible. It’s about working with a team to create something new out of nothing—the limit is your imagination! In the most inspiring and challenging cases, customers provide a drawing of the finished part, and it’s up to the designer to imagine and innovate the tools and a process to create that part with excellent efficiency. Learning is constant in this work, whether it’s from collaborating with a teammate or dedicated training. Top candidates are willing to maximize their knowledge of the manufacturing field so they can invent the best machining strategy for customers that produce spacecraft, solar panels, cars, and more. The designers will learn the mechanical properties, limitations, and proper application for all Sandvik’s tools. In your daily work, you would utilize several systems and automated design tools. Typical design work ranges from making small modifications to existing tools to innovating completely new tools and processes. You’ll be challenged to build designs based on existing modules in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Your profile BS degree or equivalent work experience 5-10 years of experience with metal cutting Proficiency in mechanical design / CAD-design Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Able to read, write, and speak English fluently Able to work in a cooperative team environment Familiar with CAM programming and a dedicated problem solver Able to work on projects that include technology protected by the US Government (US Citizen/Permanent Resident/Green Card Holder) Benefits Sandvik offers a comprehensive total compensation package including a competitive benefits package of life, health, dental, and disability insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and a 401(k)-retirement savings plan, bonus plan.
