What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Research Analyst I position at 4S?
The Operations Research Analyst I is responsible for data collection, analytics and reporting that meet client requirements.
Salary Range - $40,000 - $90,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Reports to a team lead (Operations Analyst II or III)
- Must be able to work independently.
- Compile information into reports to support regular daily and weekly meetings as well as ongoing updates to DOT data database, Incident Reports, Monthly Progress Reports, daily program reporting, Quarterly Program Reviews.
- Participate in meetings with project stakeholders by completing read-aheads and presentations, and video/web/teleconferencing.
- Knowledge management of documents and artifacts.
- Quality control of project management documents and artifacts.
- Formulate and apply mathematical or other modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions.
- Identify problems and risks as well as engaging in problem resolution.
- Provide support in the preparation and evaluation of technical documents, papers, studies, analysis, and briefings in support of daily operational reporting for Federal Government clients.
- Prepare and execute detailed analyses of project and program management activities.
- Support the development, tracking and analysis of trends and data.
- Support the analysis of information from government agencies such as the DOT, state and local transportation agencies.
- Support daily reporting to Federal Government clients.
- Support ad hoc reporting to Federal Government clients from compilation of data from outside sources.
- Proficient in the use of query and reporting analysis tools. Standardize data collection by developing methods for database design and validation reporting.
- Provide application analysis and data modeling design to collect data for centralized data warehouse.
- Extract data from databases and data warehouses for reporting and to facilitate sharing between multiple data systems.
- Apply a wide range of analytical techniques related to operations research, such as quantitative and qualitative modeling, probability and statistics, simulation, optimization, and other operation research, policy analysis and management science methods to examine issues and problems.
- Perform statistical data collection requirement activities, such as preparing, processing, and coordinating ad hoc and standing collection requirements.
- Design presentation graphics and other tools to explain statistical research findings to other professionals and non-technical audiences.
- Other duties as assigned.
Compensation Minimum: $40,000
Compensation Maximum: $90,000
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years analytical or comparable experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite experience: TEAMS, Excel, PowerBI reporting required including queries, data tables, and conditional formatting in Excel
- Ability to manage workload and schedule across multiple processes
- Exceptional attention to detail for quality control of documents and artifacts
- Good communication skills and strong teamwork

Physical Requirements:
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. The position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and the location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Possible lifting up to 50 lbs.
