POSITION SUMMARY:
The Payroll Specialist will effectively implement and oversee processes for payroll operations, optimizing quality and cost of service for the business. This position is responsible for establishing and implementing time entry and payroll processes for the domestic business, coordination/oversight of third-party vendors related to payroll and providing direction to the internal resources that support the payroll and time entry processes. In addition to the payroll/HR business unit support, this role executes special projects as needed with an eye toward continuous process improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct responsibility for the efficiency and effectiveness of all time entry and payroll processes including partnership with external payroll vendors.
- Maintain required payroll information by designing efficient record keeping systems.
- Partner effectively with HR, IT, Finance, and other functions to ensure appropriate flow of data and reporting.
- Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure accurate collection, calculation, and entering of data.
- Partner with managers and employees in answering any questions regarding payroll matters through the dedicated payroll inbox.
- Develop and facilitate training programs to support payroll processing and time reporting throughout the business.
- Support financial reporting analysis for tax management, labor reporting and ad hoc requests.
- Prepare commission & bonus calculations timely.
- Monitor accuracy of time entry and payroll processes and drive resolution of problems and process breakdowns.
- Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures and
partner with vendors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements, advising management on needed actions. - Maintain awareness of existing and new legislation governing payroll requirements.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts at each month end close.
- File documentation with the proper agencies when state changes are required.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree plus two to three years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is required, along with data entry into HRIS system preferred
- UKG experience preferred, not required.
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail required.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills required.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos, and ability to write professional correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group presentations to employees, customers, clients, and other partners of 5.11
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong sense of teamwork and accountability required; strong bias for providing positive customer (employee) experiences.
- Ability to carry out detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to recognize and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment and diplomacy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires walking and sitting to a significant degree.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate to employees.
- Able to work extended hours as necessary.
- Able to work with standard office/computer Equipment.
- Capable of working in an open office environment and/or remotely

Pay Range: $26 - $32 per hour plus bonus.
