Security Officer - Full Time

5 STAR Event Services is looking for a sharp individual to join our security team at the Toyota Center.  We provide 24 hour security for the Toyota Center and we currently have a full time position available! This individual would be responsible for securing the Toyota Center Arena located on 1510 Polk St in Houston 77002.  Before starting the position, a 3 day, 8 hour training will be provided. 

We are looking to fill this position ASAP!  Must be able to start training by April 30, 2021!

A Texas Level II non-commissioned security license is REQUIRED.  Licensing course will be provided, if you do not currently have one. 

PAY RATE: $11:00 per hour for the first 90 days and $11.50 per hour after the 90 day period, followed by a yearly evaluation. 

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee must also possess the following qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will have security experience, knowledge of events, sports, or theatre operations within a sizable entertainment venue.
• Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring and developing staff to perform at high levels
• Experience motivating and encouraging exceptional performance.
• Texas Non-Commissioned Guard Card (Training/Testing is available) All applicants are required to submit to fingerprinting, pass the Private Security Level II testing and criminal background check. 
• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• At least 18 years of age
• Reliable forms of communication and transportation
• Must possess excellent Customer Service Skills
• Good Verbal and Written Skills
• Must be Outgoing, Personable and Professional
• Enjoy Working in a Team Environment

Job Duties: 

• Act as a liaison with local law enforcement, client representatives, talent/sports team security and outside agencies.
• Maintain security protocols and procedures
• Assist in the development of venue policies based on industry leading security standards and best practices.
• Ensures compliance with all sanctioned security mandates and protocols.
• Highly responsive to emergencies in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
• Collaborate with various departments and external clients to minimize expense and maximize budgeted results while maintaining optimal operating efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and document any event day incidents and/or problems including those affecting clients, guests, and staff or operating issues.
• Make rounds around the perimeter of the arena, monitoring and observing for any suspicious behavior

• Monitor and maintain loading dock and other door access

• Temping all personnel at entrance using a thermal laser sensor

• Ensure proper CDC Guidelines are being followed 

• Acts as a troubleshooter for any problems during the shift 

• Must know, enforce, and abide by all 5 Star rules and regulations 

• Knowledge of all emergency policies and procedures so that they may appropriately respond should any of these emergencies occur  

• Oversight of all procedures 

• Enforce and uphold the integrity of the facility and event 

Physical Requirements: To perform this position successfully, an individual must possess the following physical requirements:

• Must be physically fit and possess full mental dexterity with the ability to walk, talk, stoop, kneel, crouch, hear and see
• The ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time (minimum of 8 hours)
• The ability to lift 25lbs.
