Location BBC Bronson Battle Creek Title Facilities Specialist I SUMMARY Performs emergency, routine, and preventative maintenance in such diverse areas as carpentry, locksmith, electrical, mechanical HVAC, groundskeeper and Plant Operations. Must have working knowledge and experience in one or more of these areas. Employee has the responsibility to maintain and upgrade his/her competencies based on the assigned work location. Employees working in direct patient care areas must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1 year related commercial experience and/or training in one or more of the described areas: mechanical, electrical, painting, carpentry, locksmith, Boilers, Groundskeeper or Plant Operations required. Certification may be required for certain areas of specialty. Must have a Class 4 NIULPE boiler license or equivalent within 12 months. Must have demonstrated mechanical skills. Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license acceptable to BHG insurance policy. Must have demonstrated mechanical skills. Ability to read, write and follow written or verbal instructions necessary. Must be able to understand and operate diagnostic test equipment. Knowledge and ability to conduct repairs. Possible exposure to high or low temperatures as both inside and outside temperatures indicate to perform job duties. Occasionally working on wet surfaces is likely. Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious/hazardous materials. Exposure to noise and fumes. Work which rarely produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue, i.e., less than 20 percent of the work time. Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as moving Equipment. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required. Job definitely requires high levels of strength and/or stamina to regularly lift weights up to 100 pounds and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects. The Facilities Specialist I must be able to communicate (verbally and in writing) in English with departmental staff. Must possess good interpersonal skills that represent Bronson Health Care Group and the Facilities Services department in a positive and professional manner. Performs corrective maintenance repairs. Performs preventative maintenance inspections and repairs of physical plant equipment. Preforms daily building rounds of all physical plant mechanical spaces. Preform and document water testing of boilers and DI / RO water generating equipment. performs general building repairs as needed. Documents work performed in the computer W/O, PM program. Achieves educational requirements and cross training as required for the assigned position. Research/order supplies as needed. Works as part of the snow team as required. Maintains the BBC grounds to an acceptable standard. Being on standby as required by the manager or designee. All other job related duties as assigned.
