6KAdditive is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer with extensive hands-on experience in both process and equipment development environments. With a solid understanding and appreciation for process/hardware interactions and the impact equipment configuration has on process outcomes. The ideal candidate has the potential to dramatically improve 6K’s production capabilities. The ability to work independently in complex situations with a demonstrated track record of quickly learning new processes, equipment, and integration schemes is expected. This position is primarily based at the 6K Additive facility in Burgettstown, PA.
Description:
· Provide technical assistance in the installation and maintenance of company equipment.
· Lead implementation of upgrades to existing systems.
· Analyze equipment malfunctions and failures and develop corrective action.
· Design and source fixtures and adaptations for system repairs and maintenance.
· Act as a point of contact for the offsite engineering team, management, and outside contractors.
· Read, create, and edit equipment P&ID’s or schematics.
· Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance procedures to reduce equipment downtime and failures.
· Monitor equipment performance and suggest improvements.
· Gather data from process equipment or operator team to develop equipment specifications for upgrades including scope of work, forecasted budget, and financial justification.
· Work with the engineering team to design and develop new equipment.
· Document equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures for reference purposes.
· Support operations team in maintaining equipment uptime and improving yield.
· Test and approve new equipment before acceptance and installation on larger systems.
· Improve onsite documentation, inventory, and communication practices.
Tackle modification/upgrade challenges of a multi-disciplinary nature, including:
· Mechanical and Electrical systems.
· Exhaust gas systems.
· Water cooling systems.
· Powder screening and collection systems.
· Hardware design.
· BOM management.
· Process and machine automation.
· Build/install documentation.
· Equipment maintenance procedures.
· Testing/Validation protocols.
· Documentation and creation of engineering business processes.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, industrial or other related engineering fields.
· Excellent with Mechanical Engineering First Principles.
· Five (5 ) years of experience with design engineering, project execution, and/or field service.
· Understanding of equipment monitoring instrumentation and techniques.
· Previous experience in an industrial process industry involving the movement of solid, liquid, or gaseous material.
· An individual who appreciates and is disciplined in following the scientific method (e.g., letting the data speak, designing the correct experiments, demonstrating repeatability, etc.).
· Self-directed learner who can own a project and drive to solution with limited outside direction.
· Possesses a “do-what-it-takes” attitude which might require going above and below nominal scope.
Preferred Qualifications:
· A proven track record of tackling complex, multi-disciplinary problems including those without prior knowledge
Fluency with SolidWorks, scripting (MATLAB or similar), and data acquisition systems (preferred).
· Experience with PLC programming (Allen Bradley) a plus.
· Background in powder handling equipment – specifically feeding and collection of fine (1-100micron) powder highly desired but not required
