Status: Full time Exempt
Responsibilities – The Manager of Information Systems is responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, and general oversight of the School’s technology infrastructure. In addition to these overall responsibilities, the position is also responsible for purchasing and maintaining desktop equipment, and providing troubleshooting for individual user problems as they arise. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Oversee overall operation of the information technology infrastructure, develop strategic plans, and recommend enhancements as needed.- Provide help-desk support to the entire Longy community as appropriate. The majority of desktop support is provided to administrative staff, but occasions will arise when it will be necessary to assist members of the faculty and student population.
- Maintain, update, and troubleshoot existing infrastructure hardware, which includes servers, routers, switches, and wiring.
- Give new users access to e-mail and file sharing as appropriate.
- Train users on new or existing applications, as necessary.
- Ensure the security of the information systems and equipment.
- Manage back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans and software/hardware infrastructure.
- Act as a liaison between Longy and Bard College regarding network infrastructure and enterprise software (Banner).
- Maintain infrastructure necessary for Longy’s website in conjunction with the Communications department
- Develop and establish operating policies and approaches for computing and information technology.
- Advise senior management on strategic systems conversions and integrations in support of the school’s goals and objectives.
- Oversee those vendors providing information technology services and equipment, including contract process and on-site consultants.
- Oversee ongoing improvements and the feasibility of system enhancements.
- Design and implement policies and procedures for receiving access to the Longy network and using it appropriately.
- Keep detailed records of all hardware and software purchases, maintenance contracts, and licenses. Renew maintenance contracts as necessary, and ensure that all software is properly licensed.
- Take a leadership role in facilitating any needed acquisition or change in application software for School purposes.
- Other duties as assigned.
