Approximately every fourth weekend, this position is scheduled for 12:30pm-9pm on Saturday and Sunday. Employment Bonus Available! An employment bonus of up to $5,625 (subject to applicable taxes) is available for this position. The bonus is paid in three installments: 1st after 90 days, 2nd after one year, and 3rd after two years. Bonus recipients must commit to continuous full-time or part-time employment in an eligible position for two years with Porter Medical Center. Please note that current University of Vermont Health Network employees are excluded from eligibility for this bonus. Job Description Performs a variety of routine and complex tests in all areas of the laboratory, following established procedures, as assigned. Areas included are hematology, immunology, bacteriology, chemistry, serology, and microscopy. Commands knowledge of laboratory information system. Functions in areas of phlebotomy, specimen handling and processing, and report distribution as required. Job Qualifications Able to read, write and speak the English language. Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or a related science is required. Clinical education in a school of Medical Technology or an affiliated agency. Certification as an MT by the Board of Registry of ASCP, CLS by NCA, AMT, HEW or ISCLT is recommended. Must meet CLIA requirements for job position. Experience is not required. Approximately one year is required to learn the job for satisfactory performance. This will be evaluated by the laboratory director. The University of Vermont Health Network/Porter Medical Center is located in the heart of beautiful Middlebury, Vermont. We are comprised of a 25-bed acute care facility, a 98-bed skilled nursing facility which includes a memory care unit, short-term rehabilitation unit and a long-term care unit, and a network of primary care and specialty medical practices throughout Addison county and the town of Brandon.
