What are the responsibilities and job description for the Blaster / Painter I (Production) position at A. D. Welding Company?

Responsible for blasting and painting of various surfaces as directed by the Blasting/Painting Supervisor.

Technical Competencies :Surface Preparation / Coating/Paint Application.

  • Expertize in understanding the different types of surface preparation by hand, power tools and abrasive blasting per applicable standards.
  • Able to preform surface profile tests, cleanliness tests and record results.
  • Expertize and understanding the different coating system specifications.
  • Ability to read and follow paint specification sheets, MSDS sheet, and application instruction sheet.
  • Knowledge in preforming ambient condition readings and record findings.
  • Capability to preform thickness film testing of coating systems and record findings.
  • Knowledge in mixing and application of various types of coating systems.
  • Ability to manually apply coating and to prepared surface with paint roller and paint brush, airless and conventional spray equipment.
  • Capability of operating Wheelabrator units and coordinating the teams assigned to this operation.

Tool Use Competencies:

  • Capability on setting up blast equipment and spray/coating equipment in different areas of the yard and on vessels.
  • Ability to use hand sand paper,hand scrapper, putty knife, paint roller, paint brush, & cutting knife, power tools disk sander, pencil grinder, grinder, disk buffer, bristle blaster, & paint mixer.
  • Knowledge in operating, troubleshooting, of pressure washing equipment, blast equipment and all the components in the blast system including centrifugal equipment.
  • Capable of connecting PPE related equipment for blasting: blast hood, hood line, air filter receiver.

Other Qualifications:

  • Responsible for his own work quality and inspection of his work .
  • Understand and follow HSE specific safety rules for the intended application.
  • Contribute fully to the team effort to maintain 5S, workstation cleanliness & organization.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Job Types: Contract, Full-time

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Education:
