A&M's DI team embraces professionals from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds, who bring deep expertise in conducting investigations, managing electronic disclosure exercises and interrogating complex sets of information. Our core areas of work include anti-bribery and fraud investigations, regulatory investigations, contract disputes, IP theft investigations and other litigation advisory services. The Candidate Against the backdrop of our growing presence in Spain, opportunities exist for us to strengthen the DI business at the Senior Associate level. This opportunity is ideal for an accountant with up to 3 to 5 years’ experience; a background in Law is advantageous. Although experience in forensic services is desirable this is not a requirement. You will play a key part in the further development of the practice, with emphasis on assisting the named expert and preparing expert reports of financial or economic nature. You will provide litigation consulting, expert testimony and reports, and forensic analysis as well as conduct incisive fraud investigation and forensic accounting services. Critical Capabilities The preferred candidate will be an action-oriented self-starter with entrepreneurial flair. You will be comfortable working on your own as well as part of a high performing team. Critically, you will need to be client facing with an emphasis on being able to articulate complex findings in a clear and meaningful manner. In addition, the successful candidate will: Perform initial analyses and provide summaries of accounting, finance and economic issues Review documents to identify items relevant to an investigation or dispute consulting matter Assist with compiling, analysing, and documenting facts for matters under investigation or in litigation Assist in developing and/or evaluating damages, claims and calculations Prepare financial models, cash flow analysis, and other analyses to support business valuations and damage assessments Create financial models based on business issues or transactions being analysed Assist with drafting reports and findings including the preparation of tables, exhibits and charts Assist with researching technical and industry specific issues Develop and suggest solutions to complex problems by thinking “outside the box” Balance multiple client projects and other responsibilities Communicate effectively to all levels of engagement team Qualifications Degree in accounting, finance, law, economics or another business-related field Professional accounting qualification highly desirable but not essential 3 to 5 years of experience in Big 4 or similar accounting firm or, a forensic/dispute consulting practice in a professional services firm Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint Interest in forensic/dispute consulting and business valuation Flexibility to travel Excellent written and oral communication skills Fluency in Spanish and English is essential Personal Style You, Thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and unpredictable environment Have excellent written and verbal communications skills Have excellent listening skills and can incorporate the views and ideas of others Possess an objective, fact-based approach to problem solving Are hands-on and a non-hierarchical operator - relate well at all levels and cultures Have an interest in participating in initiatives in the areas of corporate social responsibility and diversity and inclusion Are driven by values and integrity, straight talking, build confidence and lead by example Demonstrate the ability to balance a high-level view with detail Hold a natural ability to prioritise – especially in highly pressurised situations Are a self-starter – Alvarez & Marsal has a flat structure with a self-sufficient culture Have an entrepreneurial spirit A&M Talent, culture and values Attracted by our meritocratic culture and the opportunity to build a business with like-minded individuals, our people have joined A&M from the Big 4, top tier strategy houses, private equity firms, hedge funds, leading financial services institutions and industry and commerce.
