Position Summary

The Facilities Project Manager is responsible for providing administrative and project management support for construction project implementation, design management, asset management, and planning studies undertaken by the Department of Facilities Planning & Construction.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the implementation of facilities construction & modification projects, including:
Coordinate work sequencing among architects, engineers, contractors, and the college community.
Provide supervision & oversight to ensure the quality and timeliness of work performed by contract personnel, including architects, engineers, and contractors.
Coordinate contract administration, including correspondence logs, contractual documents, change orders, authorizations, reports of site conferences, and requests for payment for all assigned projects, including relocations and other assigned projects.
Develop and maintain project-specific budget tracking.
Develop and maintain project schedules in Microsoft Project. Track progress and notify appropriate personnel when milestones are jeopardized.

Manage and maintain College and project design standards, including:
Coordinate updates to college design standards; Review and update regularly to ensure that standards meet college expectations according to changing conditions
Assist with incorporating college design standards into each project and ensure the architectural quality and integration of all campus standards are achieved.
Monitor standard specifications and requirements for use by the outsourced design professionals during project design
Monitor and assist with the space planning process to ensure a design that is compliant with client requests and college standards.

Manage updates to college space and asset databases, including:
Maintain and update the college’s space data and floor plans to ensure accuracy
Coordinate updates to the department’s electronic files, including As-Built and Construction drawings.
Conduct regular audits of space use, capacity, and occupancy data; ensure an accurate representation of campus facilities
Collect and analyze data; advise upper management on use, efficiency, and space requirements.
Evaluate or assist in the evaluation of room use repurposing

Assist in the development and management of capital planning efforts, including:
Development of long-range building programs, facilities inventory, and capital project development
Development of space utilization reports required by the Maryland Higher Education Commission and other regulatory agencies.
Assist in the process of selecting architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors in conformity with college procedures.
Generate departmental monthly progress reports from input provided by unit heads

Work closely with others to plan designs, including furniture, equipment, telecommunications, or other pertinent needs.

Serve as a staff resource for the Architectural Review Committee. Attend meetings as required.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Administrative Services.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, engineering or interior design, or related field.
Five years of progressively responsible experience in construction and/or project management with a proven track record of providing exemplary customer service.
Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups within the college community.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Design and/or construction experience in higher education
Construction Manager (CM) Certification
Experience with AutoCAD/BIM/Revit software.
Sustainability experience, LEED certification.
Knowledge of Facilities Management Software

This position is overtime-exempt
Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, and codes applicable to health and safety, construction processes, and products and equipment
