Position Title: Editorial Coordinator
Department: Academic Services /American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education
Reports To: Senior Director of Academic Services and Strategic Initiatives
Position Description Summary:
The Editorial Coordinator works directly with the Associate Editorial Director to ensure the timely publication of the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education (AJPE). This position provides administrative and editorial support and contributes to the daily operations of AJPE.
The American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education is the official monthly scholarly publication of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). The purpose of AJPE is to document and advance pharmaceutical education in the United States and internationally.
Essential Functions/Tasks:
AJPE Responsibilities (95%)
- Perform technical check of new manuscripts using manuscript submission and peer review system (Editorial Manager).
- Format accepted manuscripts for early publication online and final issues of the Journal.
- Upload formatted manuscripts to manuscript submission system and send to production vendor.
- Create and distribute e-Table of Contents and e-Publish Ahead of Print to AACP members.
- Update issue schedules.
- Assist with promotion of the Journal online and contribute content to the Journal’s social media accounts (Twitter and LinkedIn) using HootSuite; responsible for scheduling and posting content.
- Schedule, participate in, record and take notes (as needed) for AJPE editorial board, editorial team, and editorial taskforce meetings, conference calls and webinars.
- Assist with preparations for workshops, meet-the-editor booth, and other meetings at the AACP Annual Meeting, including preparation of reports using Excel and slides using PowerPoint.
- Check AJPE email inbox daily and reply to queries.
- Respond to phone queries from authors, reviewers, and/or the public regarding general AJPE information, manuscript status, etc.
- Assist with AJPE website maintenance and updates.
- Coordinate special projects, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
AACP Staff Responsibilities (5%)
- Participate in AACP staff meetings and working groups as assigned.

Qualifications for Position
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism, English, communication or related field.
- Minimum of two years of editorial or publication experience is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and social media platforms (HootSuite, Twitter, LinkedIn).
- Working knowledge of AMA style guide and some copyediting experience is desirable.
- Ability to multitask and coordinate elements of a publication schedule.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Time oriented; ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Strong organization and administrative skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
