ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Account Reconciliations: Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and examine financial information to ensure accurate and complete financial records as part of month-end close activities.
- Journal Entries: Prepare, review, and/or approve journal entries.
- Cash Disbursements: Audit life insurance claim payments and vendor invoices, conduct check runs, and process electronic bank transfers.
- Internal Controls: Review current procedures and assist in the development and documentation of internal controls processes that adhere to standard accounting best practices.
- Annual Audit and Taxes: Assist with coordination of audit requests, preparation of audit and tax schedules, and processing of IRS Form 1099s.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis: Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive financial reports and schedules for detailed analysis.
- Ad-Hoc Projects: Lead projects designed to transform current processes and procedures by increasing efficiency and effectiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- BA in Accounting (or related field)
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in accounting industry
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Advanced understanding of financial statements and accounting procedures
- Ability to perform account reconciliations and initiate journal entries
- Strong communication skills with exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, a plus
- Military and/or insurance background, a plus
