Assistant Financial Controller

Job Profile Summary

We are looking for an Assistant Controller to support the US Accounting team. This key member of our organization will be able to successfully operate in a fast-paced and growing organization. The Assistant Controller’s responsibilities include preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned.

A successful candidate will be able to balance multiple priorities and demonstrate leadership within the Accounting team. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and extensive financial analysis skills will be important in this role. This working leader should also possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual accounting cycle; statutory compliance; and related processes for the US entity.
• Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled in a timely manner and reconciling items are resolved.
• Partner with the UK Assistant Controller to ensure process consistency / quality during the accounting closing cycle.
• Coordinate the US quarterly SOX responses, including quality reconciliations and thorough documentation per Corporate standards
• Assist in leading the department’s US GL operations, internal controls and reviews, financial standards compliance, and audits (both internal and external).
• Effectively manage change within the group and/or organization resulting from change in processes, policies and/or acquisitions.
• Assisting in ad hoc finance projects as and when they occur.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3 years of pertinent accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• CPA preferred, not required for hire if certification is in progress.
• Self-motivated, autonomous, and proven “do–it yourself” attitude.
• High energy level with a hands-on approach combined with the ability to provide leadership and structure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Experience with SAP suite; building SOX compliant processes; utilizing financial applications to enhance and automate processes, reporting, analysis, and controls highly desired.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
