Essential Functions:
- Communicates in a clear and professional manner with students and families;
- Works with students and families in post-secondary planning;
- Provide information and opportunities for students with regard to placement tests and college application materials, including financial aid applications and opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaches high school junior and senior students the skills needed for post-planning and acquiring financial aid;
- Helps students identify trade schools, colleges, universities, etc. that align with students' goals;
- Helps students complete the FAFSA scholarships, and other financial aid applications; Works with individuals and/or groups of students to teach them the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the post-secondary admissions process;
- Works individually with students to help them navigate any roadblocks that may keep them from successfully entering college or trade school;
- Provides seminars on the post-secondary admissions process and the completion of financial aid applications;
- Works with the school staff to identify low-income, minority, homeless, unaccompanied youth, and first-generation college students for the program;
- Attends training and does research to keep up with the current policies and practices of trade schools, community colleges, private and public 4-year colleges and universities, and specialty schools;
- As funding permits, visits colleges and meets admission officers and financial aid officers in order to have the latest information for students and also to have contacts as needed to assist studen& in admission and financial aid negotiations; and Supports the District FAFSA Completion Plan.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a state high school equivalence certificate;
- College coursework and/or degree preferred;
- Possesses knowledge of the world of post-secondary education/higher education and the college admission process.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 per hour
