As Software Product Engineering Lead, you will be accountable for leading small, cross functional project teams that provide software prototype development and analysis within our E-mobility R&D lab. You’ll evaluate software technologies, lead design software architecture solutions with Software Engineering colleagues globally and will implement prototype software modules and systems in this very fast-moving and innovative industry.

This position reports to

R&D/Technology Director

Your responsibilities

• Responsible for leading projects in the development and enhancement of ABB E-Mobility Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) and smart charging management technologies/production systems, including:
• Software control and communication algorithms/modules, on edge and/or in cloud
• User applications (e.g., charge location recommendation/reservation tool)
• Commissioning, configuration, and service support tools
• Charging depot management applications
• Front end sales for charging station/depot projects
• Prepaid or usage-based charging
• Support new product/solution introduction via pilot/demonstration activities
• Lead the development of new features for existing solution platforms
• Consistently protect the intellectual properties for the ABB E-mobility
• Publish in technical conferences/journals/magazines, trade shows, and other platform to help promote the ABB E-mobility’s products, solutions & brand

Your background

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field is required with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in scalable and containerized software applications and their management, with 3-4 years leading software development projects, in a collaborative team environment
• Must have experience in Communication and IoT networking, Edge/cloud computing and Web interface programming
• Knowledge of high-performance computing, Cybersecurity (authentication/authorization, network security protocols, penetration testing, etc.), Docker and Database management systems (especially non-relational) highly preferred
• Programming skills in Python, C /C#, CSS/CSS3, JavaScript, HTML/HTML5, embedded C/C /Java, or other platforms/languages required
• Must have demonstrated track record of delivering successful software development projects, on time, within budget, and of superior quality
• Must be comfortable working in a collaborative and fast-paced global team environment
• Excellent English language speaking, reading, and writing abilities are required
• Solid analytical skills are required with an inquisitive engineering problem solving mindset
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
• Salary range for this position: 115K to 140K plus annual bonus
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
