What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinist - 1st Shift position at ABB Inc.?
In Albuquerque we manufacture underground cable connections and accessories for the electrical distribution grid as well as fault circuit indicators and current sensors. Our industry leading Elastimold and Fisher Pierce products are used to connect, ground, splice, terminate, and protect underground power cables. Products manufactured in Albuquerque are integral connective pieces of a resilient power grid.
Your responsibilities- Repairing molds and tooling while keeping tight tolerances /-.001"
- Read and understand engineering drawings
- Fabricate tooling from engineering drawings
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments such as: dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, and micrometers
- Perform quality checks, interpret, and react to projects in a timely manner
- Take proactive ownership and responsibility for product quality after fabrication
- High School diploma/GED is required.
- A minimum of 3 - 10 years' experience or similar environment
- Can work a weekend schedule as needed
- Ability to read blueprints
- Knowledge and understanding of the various types of production equipment
- Can work up to 20 hours of overtime to meet Business Objectives
