The Opportunity
Our Des Plaines , IL Headquarters, has an opening for Production Planner ,
Who would work under limited supervision to provide production planning/scheduling, inventory management, or distribution support to maintain production operations and customer product availability within the Molecular Diagnostics at Abbott (MDx).
What You'll Work On
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Analyze planning requirements and initiate appropriate action to support the master schedule or independent demands.
- Schedule Manufacturing Operation to ensure availability of items under planners' control with minimum negative impact on manufacturing.
- Plan manufacturing schedules to efficiently utilize facilities. Ensure finished goods and Forecast requirements and schedule production to meet these requirements.
- Perform system maintenance and updates to insure database integrity for planning fields and files.
- Utilize personal computer tools to perform analysis and provide recommendations to management.
- Maintain raw material and work in process inventories in accordance with predetermined inventory levels and targets. Monitor inventories and take action as appropriate.
- Recommend procurement strategies for internal and external supplies compatible with economic, supply and quality goals; understand raw materials needs and translate these needs into inventory plans and strategies.
- Manage material flow from external and internal suppliers through manufacturing channels to achieve maximum production efficiency, minimizing waste and impacts to customers.
- Understands and applies manufacturing systems, interpolates manufacturing
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Supply Chain management; Operations Management; Engineering; Related science or equivalent.
- APICs; CPM or IIPMM certification strongly desired
- Sound problem solving and organizational skills. Ability to develop actionable implementation plans.
- Experience with SAP (ECC) and add ONE is strongly desired
- Experience Microsoft Excel formulas and pivot tables is strongly desired
- Familiarity with MRP is strongly desired
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree
- Supply Chain, planning or related experience - preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Preferred experience in the Healthcare (Medical Device) industry.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong analytic skills, conceptual thinking, ability to analyze and problem solve with data
