What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Paralegal position at AbbVie?
The Senior Paralegal will be part of the AbbVie Operations and Procurement Legal team and responsible for negotiating contracts, improving processes, and directly advising AbbVie businesses regarding legal and policy obligations in consultation with department attorneys and guidelines.
Responsibilities
The Senior Paralegal, working independently:
- Drafts, reviews, negotiates, and manages a variety of transactional agreements and amendments, including master services agreements for all types of services, professional services and consulting agreements, statements of work, non-disclosure agreements, business technology agreements, supply agreements, with minimal supervision of an attorney.
- Assists attorneys with the creation of contract templates, playbooks, and customer trainings; assists and/or manages special projects and enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Identifies problems, performs analyses, proposes solutions, and provides guidance directly to business clients.
- Assists attorneys in managing and resolving complex legal issues on projects or negotiations involving multiple disciplines within legal department and/or multiple functional areas or divisions within AbbVie.
- Possesses sound knowledge of clients’ business and knowledge of the broader business impact, and has the ability to prioritize multiple projects appropriately.
- Represents Legal Division internally to clients, across all levels of management.
- Represents AbbVie externally to customers, suppliers, competitors, AbbVie’s external counsel, and opposing counsel, and resolves legal issues using negotiation skills and legal experience.
- Keeps abreast of changes in laws that affect client areas and engages in continuing legal education.
- Possesses good judgment in knowing when to advise legal department managers of critical project developments in a timely manner.
- Develops meaningful and respectful relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, collaborates effectively, and executes core job responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
