What are the responsibilities and job description for the Governmental Consulting Finance Director - Senior Manager/ Manager position at Abdo?
We are looking for our next leader to join the Abdo Financial Solutions team. As a Manager, you will guide the team in providing project resources for Government. The team strives to deliver high quality client services with a focus on helping to improve accounting and finance operations.
The ideal candidate has experience with a variety of consulting projects which may include: long-term planning, budgeting/forecasting, utility rate analysis, process improvement initiatives, research/policy drafting or software implementation.

Key responsibilities include:
- Design and modify complex spreadsheets, develop and manipulate MS-Excel based financial planning and rate analysis models.
- Manipulate large and complex data sets extracted from financial/accounting systems such as financial reports, customer billing data, water consumption data, and wastewater treatment plant data.
- Write comprehensive study reports.
- Read and interpret comprehensive annual financial reports, budgets, capital improvement plans, etc.
- Lead consulting engagements, including: managing project timelines, client communication and deliverables
- Lead process improvement initiatives, which may include software implementation projects
Ideal Manager candidate has:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public administration, or related field.
- 5 years experience working in accounting
- Experience in the utility industry and/or Governmental Accounting
- Experience with software implementations, long-term financial planning, and/or utility rate studies
- Experience in project management and navigating change management
- Proficient MS-Excel skills. Examples: advanced MS-Excel functions (i.e. data referencing (VLOOKUP, H-LOOKUP, SUMIFS), conditional statements (IF, MAX, MIN), pivot tables, graphs and charts.
- Knowledge of quantitative analysis, financial modeling, governmental accounting, local government financial management.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including the ability to interpret the analytical results.
