What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Specialist/Recruiter position at Abel Mendoza Inc?
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
- Implements new hire onboarding
- Responsible for HRIS entries, HR file maintenance, emailing reminders to supervisors of staff evaluation, and expiring certificates.
- Communicates with payroll for all department pay needs such as retro pay, liens, wage garnishments and terminations as needed.
- Verifies employee eligibility for benefits, responds to employee inquiries regarding benefits, assists employees in conversion of benefits during and after leave of absence and on termination of employment.
- Processes all unemployment and state disability claims with accuracy and timeliness.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Assists with employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- At least three (2) years of human resources generalist experience preferred.
