We partner with a local university to offer an integrated living experience. Students will learn from a curriculum that centers on formal instruction in four areas:

AbleLight College is currently looking for Paraprofessionals (Student Support Advisor internally) who can work part-time hours during the week.
In this role, this individual will serve various roles within the AbleLight college team at the Mequon, WI Concordia University campus. Paraprofessionals will cover a broad range of duties and activities that assist the college instructors in providing a robust learning experience for our AbleLight College students.
The role is expected to assist in coordinating events, communication, and being a representative of AbleLight College on campus.
Requirements:
High School education completed or equivalents
Understanding of intellectual and developmental disabilities field
Knowledge of working with individuals with I/DD on independent living skills with the ability to teach and mentor our AbleLight College students,
Valid driver’s license and good driving record as defined by AbleLight's policy.
Ability to work part-time (10-20 hours per week).
Excellent organizational, coordination, time management, and scheduling skills
Ability to multi-task and follow through with minimal missed deadlines or miscommunications
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong communication skills (written/oral) and presentation skills, and professional presence
Responsibilities:
Student Instruction
Attends assigned classes with students, assists in comprehension of material, completion of assignments, providing focus, giving feedback, and using best study practices
Complete student progress and end of semester reports
Coach & mentor academic assignments
Program Assistance
Providing administrative support to new AbleLight college staff on their first day
Getting students engaged in on-campus/off-campus activities
Job Coaching
Assists AbleLight students in receiving services in career development and helping them integrate into their community through employment
Acting as a liaison to employers in supporting people hired to work in their business
Applying creative solutions to problems as they arise for the individual
Assist with breaking down tasks into achievable components
Life Skills Coaching
Being an advocate for supported individuals among the community by fostering independence self-advocation and by promoting inclusion in community work sites
Working 1:1 with AbleLight students to build their independent living skills
Assessing and identifying needed skill sets to provide better focus.
Regularly meet with your AbleLight college supervisor to provide progress reports
Mentor and guide on nutrition counseling, financial planning, daily habits, spiritual life and provide positive behavior support
