What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Engineer position at ABM US?
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- 7 years’ experience as a Chief Engineer responsible for commercial, industrial, medical, educational institution, retail, high-rise residential or mixed-use buildings in performing the operation, installation and maintenance of building systems with an in-depth technical understanding and knowledge of all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems.
- Must be a current IUOE 399 engineer in good standing on the job desk for IUOE 399
- Ideal candidate must have strong HVAC background
- Ability to read and analyze Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing drawings
- Knowledge and understanding of all applicable practices/techniques, laws, project controls, and environmental regulations
- Construction management experience
- Knowledge of City of Chicago building codes, state codes and federal building codes
- Familiar with Energy Management System (EMS)/programming, fire alarm systems, and Building Management Systems
- Communication Proficiency- Excellent oral communication skills
- Intermediate technical capability to use Building Automation System Controls
- Strong formal knowledge of operational and technical skill and will be accountable for staff performance and execution of assignments.
- Development and coordination of preventive maintenance schedules and the ability to assess and prioritize immediate needs.
- Intermediate knowledge of the property management financial reporting with primary focus on repair and maintenance expenses, Utility expenses and Capital expenses, as they pertain the department’s allocated monthly and annual budget.
- Ability to perform functions as required for daily work in Microsoft office suite programs
- Ability to work as a user with Corrigo CMMS work order management system or similar CMMS program experience
- State Issued Driver’s License and good driving record
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Organizational Skills- Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time effectively, establish workflow priorities and work independently
- Interpersonal Skills- Ability to physically perform duties at the speed, mobility and force necessary to the task
- Experience in large-scale mechanical systems upgrades in a complex environment
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Vocational/Technical training certificate(s)
- Minimum of (4) completed courses at the IUOE Local 399 training center or equivalent community college or University
- City of Chicago Stationary Engineers License
- Universal Technician EPA608 CFC
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of four years of related experience and/or trade school training.
PREFERRED EDUCATION
- OSHA-10, OSHA-30, LEED Certification any other state regulated trades license.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair
- Building Automation System Controls such as: Tridium/Jace, Niagara AX & N4 Technical Certifications, Niagara AX Developer Cert, Niagara N4 Advanced Technical Cert, DistechGFX Engineering, Johnson Controls PCV/G Engineering, Honeywell Spyder Engineering, Square D VFD, Trane Building Automation System Controls, etc.
