Job Summary
The Social Media Marketing and Communications Co-op position on Abt's Marketing Communications team is a unique opportunity for a creative, forward-thinking, and motivated student to conduct rewarding and impactful work for a mission-driven organization. The Co-Op will be given the freedom to think boldly and strategically, and their work will directly impact the organization's global corporate social media marketing/communications strategy. Although Abt Associates is a large global company, the co-op works within a small team in which their opinions will be valued. This is an excellent opportunity to build a portfolio of social media work.
Abt seeks a candidate preferably enrolled in an associated (marketing, communications, business) major or program. The ideal candidate is an adept storyteller with excellent writing and communication skills, a keen eye for detail, a willingness to innovate, and an interest in social impact. The candidate must have the ability to juggle multiple deliverables; he/she/they must also work well within a small, tight-knit team atmosphere.
Note: If remote work is required/requested due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Abt offers either a virtual machine workspace or can provide an Abt-specific laptop to complete your duties. Regular meetings, check-ins, and group get-togethers are conducted via video, using Cisco WebEx or Microsoft Teams.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Social Media Lead and MarComm/Editorial teams to create posts for Abt's corporate Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts, and create graphics to accompany posts.
- Develop comprehensive social media plans for conferences, and write social media posts to promote conferences, events, webinars, panels, etc.
- Work with Internal Communications and HR/Talent Acquisition teams to create content about Abt's staff and culture on social media, with the goal of helping Abt's "employer brand"
- Assist the Social Media Lead with data-driven research and analytics, keeping tabs on the current social media landscape and within Abt's areas of influence/competition
- Assist as needed with other MarComm disciplines, including Events & Conferences, Editorial, and Digital Marketing (including the Abt Associates website and Email Marketing practices)
Preferred Qualifications
- Social Media Management Software (ex. Sprout Social, Hootsuite, etc.)
- Project Management Software (ex. JIRA and Trello)
- Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop and InDesign)
- Online Design Tools (ex. Canva)
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
