Custodian – 2nd Shift
The Academy of Notre Dame, Tyngsboro, a Catholic private school, sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, is based on the educational philosophy of their foundress, St. Julie Billiart. The role of the custodian is to preserve property values; protect the health and safety of occupants; support the educational objectives of the building and provide a climate of learning and goodwill. All responsibilities are carried out during evening hours.
Job Duties:
● Performs custodial duties and minor repairs.
● Performs cleaning all aspects of a school building(s) and the appropriate operation and maintenance of equipment.
● Assists in sanitation control and checks for safety hazards.
● Performs classroom set up duties such as furniture moving, set up and take down.
● Performs basic maintenance skills such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, heating, and cleaning.
● Scrubs, dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes and polishes floors in rooms, hallways, and common areas.
● Washes windows, woodwork, walls and other surfaces.
● Scrubs and cleans restroom fixtures.
● Replenishes tissue, towels, and soap in restrooms, kitchens, and classroom facilities.
● Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
● Empties wastebaskets and other refuse receptacles.
● Locks and unlocks doors.
● Shovels snow.
● Maintains a safe working environment by reporting to supervisor damages or needed repairs requiring outside attention.
● Responsible for general duties as indicated by the Director of Facilities.
Qualifications:
● A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
● Prior custodial work experience, preferably in a school setting, desired.
● Physical and mental capabilities to perform above work including the ability to move in and out of offices, classrooms, buildings, and up and down stairs.
● Knowledge of effective cleaning techniques and routine preventative maintenance.
● Ability to operate cleaning equipment, perform minor maintenance, and move furniture
● Must be able to function independently, prioritize, have good organizational skills and be able to multitask.
● Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, students, and public.
● Must be able to lift and or move up to 75 pounds.
● Provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status; evidence of criminal check (CORI) and fingerprinting will be required.
Salary: Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
