Employees are expected to ensure the integrity of the job function while understanding the significance of HIPAA. As an Substance Use Disorder Counselor you will provide substance use disorder treatment services to patients according standards of care, policies, and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
-Associate's degree
-Completed certificate/degree program in addiction counseling or equivalent
-Current, active LAADC, CADC, CATC, or SUDCC
-Proficiency with technology and computer skills to document in an electronic health record system, attend virtual meetings, and manage outlook emails and calendars
-CPR certification or attain within 30 days (as required by site)
-Two year's freedom from chemical use problems
-Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's Degree
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Addictions Counselor provides professional, compassionate treatment services for adults with substance use disorders. Duties and responsibilities include providing individual and group counseling; performing intake assessments that utilize both ASAM and DSM5 criteria for diagnosis and placement at the appropriate level of care; collaboration with clients on the creation of an individualized treatment plan based on assessed needs, goals, and objectives; and care coordination with treatment team members, community partners, and referents as needed.
This person is accountable for providing substance use disorder and health evaluations and treatment, intakes, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, case-management, drug/alcohol/infectious disease/nicotine cessation education, as well as respond to inquiries, follow-up and other duties as they relate to the client, consultation and referral sources, and family members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a current CADC II or higher
Knowledge of Trauma Specific Services, Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, DBT, and strong interdisciplinary team skills helpful. Training and continuing education available.
Proficient and timely communication with required productivity and clinical documentation standard is expected. We encourage applications from those in recovery and require 2 years of continuous sobriety for candidates who identify with being in recovery. A DHS criminal background investigation is conducted on all new employees. Convictions are evaluated for each position and are not necessarily disqualifying.
