Responsibilities
- Description
- The Shop Superintendent position requires the person to demonstrate the ability to coordinate skids, decks, jackets, and other subsea scopes of work.
- Ensure adherence to specification and code requirements.
- Effectively assign and monitor tasks given to personnel.
- Monitor productivity and efficiency of operations.
- Ensure ACI’s quality standards and procedures are maintained and that shop and equipment under direction are maintained.
- Duties
- Participate in all daily JSA meetings and JSA development for daily tasks.
- Direct structural assembly/fabrication in shop and in yard when required.
- Responsible for ensuring Quality Control tasks (dimensional checks, welding appearance, heat #’s & welder stencils, etc.…) on all structural & packaging jobs are completed and followed by Foreman & shop personnel. Work with Quality Control Inspector on all structural and package jobs in shop.
- Ensure all personnel assigned to Division are accounted for on daily time sheets.
- Continually work with Facility Manager to develop efficiency and quality improvements during fabrication sequence based on (but not limited to):
- Fitter and Welder production metrics (weld counts)
- Repair Rates
- CAR/NCR Feedback
- Shop Workflow dynamics and overall shop physical set-up
- QIRT
- Supervision of all shop foreman job duties.
- Collect completed fitter and foreman drawings and submit to QA/QC fabrication completion. Drawings to include the following fitter information:
- Heat Numbers for materials utilized
- Pre-weld out dimensional confirmation
- Shop Superintendent is to be main point of contact for all updates, clarifications, or other daily project business with the Project Management and Project Coordinator. Project Director is to be kept informed and copied in on all correspondence pertaining to project execution/Project Management.
- Advise Project Managers of material needs to maintain job continuity based on material requirements
- Keep equipment in shop area maintained. Advise Facility Manager of equipment failures or purchases required.
- Obtain Fab drawings from QA/QC Department and Assign/Issue to Shop Foreman and communicate any specific fabrication requirements and needs. During draw review with Foreman, highlight any special fabrication requirements for Fitter reference.
- In the event of a priority or scheduling conflict of project workloads, consult with Facility Manager on situation so a solution can be made by all involved.
- Coordinate any repair work required after completion of NDE based on NDE reports/information turned in to QA/QC by NDE vendor.
- Maintain communication with Project Manager, and QA/QC indicating when project WILL BE (advanced notification) completed and/or is scheduled for completion for the appropriate Project Manager to issue transfer to Hydrotesting Department and/or Paint Yard.
- Monitor that project material is not removed and/or returned to project’s assigned material storage area without completed Material Transfer sheet signed by Material Expeditor.
- Coordinate with assigned Foreman & Facility Manager on all out of shop equipment needs.
- Monitor package assembly tasks being completed by Shop Foreman and personnel including the following:
- Participate in bid work scope reviews and project kick-offs when required.
- Maintain/Monitor consumable inventory for shop operations (supplies & gases)
- Enforce disciplinary action as required with regards to personnel required job duties, attendance, quality of work, and adherence to company policies.
- Complete NCR/CAR investigation and documentation with responsible Foreman. Turn in documents to QA/QC Manager within 24 hours of occurrence. Provide feedback on closure of NCR/CAR to QA/QC Manager for CAR closeout.
Qualifications
- Education
- Preferably high school diploma or equivalent
- Experience & Qualifications
- 10 years’ experience in Fabrication, Automated welding and cutting equipment and Management of Shop Foreman’s and shop personnel.
- High stress tolerance -- thrives in a high-pressure environment
- Good reading comprehension for technical documents, such as safety regulations, assembly and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Excellent verbal communications skills, especially when addressing customers, clients, or official visitors to the worksite
- Basic knowledge of software programs, such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Ability to write reports and professional correspondence to vendors and clients
