Position Summary
The Supply Chain Manager position will direct the activities of supply chain management, purchase order management, inventory management and logistics for Advanced Ceramic Coatings. Additionally, the role will represent the voice of the customer and ensure on-time delivery of product and information ranging from requests for quotes, contract reviews, manufacturing lead times to invoicing. This individual will work directly with our customer base and internal manufacturing team.
Essential Functions
- Develop material planning personnel to enhance their buying, scheduling processes and skills with the goal of continuous improvement regarding cost and customer lead time.
- Manage policies and procedures in the area of procurement, inventory control, shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution of inventory.
- Create and control the cost budget in the supply chain area. Initiate corrective actions in case of deviations.
- Establish key performance indicators, monitor ongoing performance, and improve performance against set goals.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, quality standards and OSHA.
- Manage delivery tracking tools within the company and provide directly to the customer.
- Attend monthly internal and external (customer) S&OP meetings and report out KPI's.
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual business forecasts , ensuring expected business trends are met regarding machine and soft capacity.
- Lead RFQ process with cross functional teams to deliver all new and changes to products in accordance with NPI process.
- Lead the contract review process to ensure accurate cost, pricing, shortest manufacturing lead time and on-time delivery.
- Partner with Quality department to lead processes associated with slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory levels.
- Represent and promote the organization/business with local businesses, suppliers, and customers.
- Working in the company’s Quality and Safety System context in accordance with it’s procedures and requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
Supervises staff in the Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving departments.
Work Environment
This job operates in both an office environment and a manufacturing environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computes, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The individual will be required to adhere to safety policies and procedures on the manufacturing floor.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, with additional hours as business needs necessitate.
Travel
Occasional overseas and domestic travel may be required to support the rapid growth of the company.
Education
- Associates degree is required. Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred.
- APICS Certification or willingness to obtain required.

Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Materials Management and/or Customer Service in a manufacturing organization. Aerospace, automotive, or industrial gas turbine industry experience strongly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of world class manufacturing process such as: Kanban, MRP, JIT and Lean Manufacturing, and Value Stream Mapping experience required.
- Extensive understanding of manufacturing process flow and the importance of all aspects of ERP (sales, production, maintenance, purchasing and inventory and accounting). ERP experience including creation of customer master, bill of material, routing, etc. is required.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office products, SAP and Peachtree.
- Basic technical background with the ability to read and understand technical requirements.
- Ability to recognize and handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Good administrative, organizational and project management skills.
- Must have excellent communication/presentation skills and experience interacting with all levels of customers, including production and technical managers. Must exhibit ability to identify and resolve process issues.
- Strong knowledge of both metric and US measurement systems.
- Affinity for accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Experience with SAP implementation, Lean, Six Sigma, NPI/APQP Stage Gate important.
