What You Need to Know
Admissions Manager Responsibilities:
- Ensure all patient referrals are received in a timely and complete manner. Coordinate with staff to ensure responsibility for the initial determination of a patient's/family's service needs. Supervise communication with providers, attending physicians, other appropriate hospice staff members, and any other agencies as needed to coordinate initiation of hospice services.
- Maintain regular communication with the Director, Business Development (DBD). Assist callers with information about other community resources when hospice is not appropriate. Maintain referral statistics and provide reports monthly to DBD. Build and maintain close referral and third-party payor relationships through appropriate and timely written and phone communication.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Coordinate with Admissions Department staff members personnel assignments to cover admissions and assessments effectively and timely. Work closely with Directors, Clinical Operations, Team Directors, and the DBD to insure that promised services are provided. Participate in hospice orientation and ongoing education programs.
- Demonstrate familiarity with policies of the organization and state(s) and federal regulations pertaining to nursing services. Participate on committees and special projects as appropriate. Ensure all data is accurately entered into the computer within agency guidelines. Participate in short- and long-term planning. Participate in committees/projects related to fiscal responsibilities of the Customer Care Department. Initiate creative ways to meet the needs of patients and families. Direct report for Hospice Nurses with admissions responsibilities.
- Oversee clinical skills. Oversee assignments. Monitor compliance with regulations. Responsible for Annual and the 90-day performance evaluations for all direct reports.
- Accountable for monitoring compliance of all regulatory requirements. Ensure coverage and adequate staffing needs of the department and Hospice Nurses with admissions responsibilities. Responsible for follow-up and resolutions for both internal and external concerns, or complaints related to the Customer Care department.
Qualifications
Admissions Manager Qualifications:
- Associates Degree, Preferred
- Hospice, home health, or case management experience
- 1 years of supervisory experience or AccentCare tenure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders
