Access Chemicals & Services is seeking a motivated Import Specialist to join our growing team in Sugar Land, Texas.
The ideal candidate would have prior experience dealing with freight forwarders, suppliers, custom brokers, and ocean carriers.
Must have the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, ensure customer satisfaction and work professionally.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Communicate with overseas suppliers and brokers to obtain quotes
- Receive, review, and process import documentation in our system
- Ensure documentation is accurately processed, distributed and released to carrier, customers and agents in a timely manner.
- Obtain and create quotes for shipments and source best method of transportation.
- Work with Brokerage firms and freight forwarders and monitor the release of goods from the carrier, Customs, or other governmental agency examinations that may be required.
- Communicate with overseas agents to ensure proper pre-alerts and documentation.
- Continue to explore different options to reduce cost, and increase revenues.
- Maintain shipment files and ensure billing is completed within a timely fashion.
- Obtain and negotiate competitive rates from vendors and carriers to increase profit
- Ability to be profit and cost conscious at all times
- Adhere to all company policies and guidelines
- Assist lab manager with all compliance and regulatory needs
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in Import Operations
- Full understanding of US Customs, HTS, and ocean freight
- Must have understanding with ISO 9001:2015
- Experience working with chemicals
- Ability to read and understand SDS and COA documentation
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with fellow team, clients, and partners
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn and keep up to date with new developments, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently in an environment with multiple shifting priorities.
- Knowledge of state, federal, and international applicable laws and regulations as they relate to primary services provided (i.e., customs, security, other import and export government agencies)
- Highly proficient in MS Office programs
This is a direct-hire, full-time, permanent position. Salary range: $58k - $68K
Hours: Monday thru Thursday 8am – 5pm / WFH on Fridays
