Calhoun Community College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Mental Health Counselor. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide confidential counseling services to students experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, with the goal of promoting emotional well-being, academic success, and personal development.Salary: Appropriate placement on the ACCS Salary Schedule C3, Grade II: $62,301 - $87,031Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the online application system to be considered. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provides individual and group counseling to students presenting with a variety of personal, social, academic, and mental health concerns on three (3) campuses. Provides intake assessments and effective treatment planning.Provides services for students with urgent needs during crises.Provides case management and appropriate referrals to off-campus providers as needed.Provides crisis assessment, intervention, and consultation as needed during working hours.Seeks immediate consultation with the Director in situations where there is concern for a student’s safety or the safety of others.Provides professional consultation to faculty, staff, and college administrators as needed. Establishes and maintain collaborative relationships with local hospitals, substance abuse and mental health agencies, and mental health professionals.Maintains accurate, adequate, and timely documentation of treatment records including assessment, treatment plans, progress notes, correspondence with others, and termination records. Observes state and national statues and guidelines related to professional role, code of ethics, the administration and documentation of treatment records, and confidentiality including FERPA.Contributes to the creation and implementation of innovative mental health educational programs.Collaborates with other departments across campus to further develop an inclusive, healthy, and just campus environment for all students.Maintains professional licensure, personal liability insurance, and credentials in good standing including the completion of required continuing education credits. Develops partnerships with agencies to help students access and utilize needed services (e.g., local mental health providers, agencies, and hospitals).Provides support and consultation for counseling staff requesting assistance with community referrals.Attends weekly departmental staff meetings, departmental and divisional professional development sessions, and other meetings assigned by the Director.Actively participates in college programs including tabling events, orientation and student group programs.Performs other duties as assigned.
