AccuTec, Inc., a leading provider of microtome blades, and other histology related products, is looking for an individual to help evaluate current and future microtome product performance. The position will entail performing repetitive microtomy sampling to judge microtome blade cutting performance using various microtomes and with different sample materials.

Summary: AccuTec, Inc. is seeking a Staff Histologist / Histotechnologist or an experienced Histology Technician to support the expansion of a rapidly growing histology / microtome blade product lines. This role will develop testing standards and perform such testing on microtome blades used in hospital and clinical laboratory settings for the histology market. Applicant will provide support for Engineering, R&D, Quality Assurance, and Medical Sales & Marketing departments by testing existing products, assisting in the development new blades, and consulting with customers to enhance their experience in using AccuTec’s histology blades.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily microtome blade testing and analysis, which includes visible blade edge and body inspection, and performance inspection.
- Operate rotary, automatic, and cryostat microtome units.
- Operate embedding station to prepare paraffin media / blocks for needed for testing.
- Standardize testing protocol for microtome blade testing based on application.
- Maintain safe work area and equipment, including daily cleaning and maintenance of histology equipment.
- Train personnel to ensure knowledge and skills will support AccuTec objectives.
- Support Engineering, R&D, and Quality Departments by completing other performance testing analyses such as blade sharpness, durability, or hardness.
- Work closely with manufacturing’s Quality Department to assess production quality.
- Consult with R&D and Medical Sales & Marketing teams to assist with the development of new blades, enhancing customer experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Prior work experience in a laboratory or pathology setting as histotechnologist or histology technician.
- Familiarity with histological equipment, including rotary, automatic, and cryostat microtome sectioning devices.
- Excellent attention to detail, including hand-eye coordination, fine finger dexterity, and spatial awareness needed to obtain micro-thin paraffin sections.
- Willingness to learn more about blade making and its impact on different microtome blades.
Qualifications
- Registered as a Histology Technician (HLT/HT or equivalent) with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Minimum of 2 years histology experience required.
Education
- Completion of an accredited Histotechnology Program, or minimum three years previous experience as a Histology Technician under the supervision of a Pathologist or Histotechnologist.
- High School Diploma required, with science-related Associates or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

Work Environment
- Laboratory setting, with prolonged periods of sitting to operate histology related equipment and some computer use.
