Time Type: Full time Department: CC014051 Angel One Aviation Summary: The Chief Pilot is directly responsible to the Director of Operations and supervises the pilot personnel for flight related duties. The Chief Pilot will assume operational control of the FAA Part 135 in the absence of the Director of Operations; audits and monitors flight operations of the flight department; coordinates operational policies and procedures with the Director of Operations and assists in executing those policies and procedures. The Chief Pilot conducts company crewmember training and standardization activities, pilot aircraft specific training and proficiency evaluations; monitors flight crew activities, tracks crew currency and ensures RFM currency; initiates changes to company manuals and training programs as necessary. Additional Information: Required Education: High School Diploma Recommended Education: Associate Degree Required Work Experience: Transport - 10 years with 3 years leadership experience also includes 3 years of operational experience in accordance with US FAR119.17 for Chief Pilot Qualification and a mminimum 3000 hours total flight time, 2500 flight hours pilot in command (PIC) turbine engine rotary wing. 500 hours multi-engine, 200 hours of night operations including 50 hours of NVG, and 100 hours actual or simulated instrument experience Recommended Work Experience: Required Certifications: Class 1 Medical Certificate - FAA, Class 2 Medical Certificate - FAA, Commercial Helicopter Certificate with Instrument Rating (CFII) - FAA Recommended Certifications: Air Transport Pilot License - FAA Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. 1.Aviation Operations and Safety Supervises the aviation (pilot) personnel for training activities. Conducts or supervises all training activities of aviation personnel. Performs check rides with pilots as required. Advises the Director of Operations regarding the training of pilot personnel and is responsible for aviation crewmembers training and standardization in compliance with the ACH part 135 Operations Manual. Assists the Director of Operations in formulating operations policies, coordinates those policies, and coordinates operations and training. Ensures that all aircraft are properly equipped for applicable operations. Disseminates information to all aviation crewmembers pertaining to routes, airports, NOTAMS, NAVAIDS, company policies and regulations. Maintains proficiency as Pilot-in-Command and proficiency in SPIFR operations. Assists the Director of Operations in preparing and maintaining proficiency records, pilot files, flight schedules, duty time records, reports, and correspondence pertaining to flight operations activities. Submits all reports regarding aviation personnel to the Director of Operations. Maintains the aircraft copies of Operations Manual to assure that they are current. Ensures that all aviation personnel are licensed, certified and supervised according to the requirements specified in the Federal Aviation Regulations. Maintains current aircraft checklists. Maintains safety culture and puts safety as the top priority for aviation operations. The Chief Pilot may delegate functions to other personnel, but retains full responsibility and accountability. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations. 2. Human Resources Management Assists Director of Operations in interviewing aviation personnel. Assists Director of Operations in scheduling aviation personnel, including assigning Pilot-in- Command duties. Serves as the Director of Training, as described in the ACH Aviation Training Manual. Coordinates and conducts the orientation of new pilot staff. Accomplishes performance appraisals, providing feedback to pilots and taking corrective or developmental actions when required. 3. Leadership and Professional Development Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of ACH and departmental aviation policies. Shares professional responsibility for identification, development and achievement of department goals. Promotes and maintains positive professional working relationships among all ACH customers. Demonstrates and promotes effective interpersonal skills in confronting negative behavior or mediating conflict. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Required - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) (Other fields of study to be considered) Preferred - Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma - Field of Study: Aviation or Business preferred EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Required - 10 years total experience required, which includes 10 years of total aviation experience experience, which includes 3 years of Operational experience in accordance with US FAR 119.71 for Chief Pilot Qualification and a minimum 3500 hours total flight time, 2500 flight hours pilot in command (PIC) turbine engine rotary wing. 500 hours multi-engine, 200 hours of night operations including 50 hours of NVG, and 100 hours actual or simulated instrument experience experience Preferred - 5 years US FAR Part 135 operations with leadership/management experience experience preferred Preferred - 5 years hospital EMS helicopter experience experience preferred Preferred - 2 years helicopter instructional training experience experience preferred CERTIFICATION / LICENSE / REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS Required - FAA Commercial Helicopter Certificate with Instrument Rating (Certification) (Candidate must possesss at time of hire) Required - FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate (Certification) (needed within 6 months of hire date) Required - FAA Class 2 Medical Certificate (Certification) (Candidate must possesss at time of hire) Preferred - FAA Air Transport Pilot License (ATP) Preferred - FAA Certified Fight Instrument Instructor (CFII) Helicopter Certificate (Certification) SKILL REQUIREMENTS Required - Single Pilot Instrument Flight Rules (SPIFR) qualified within 6 months of hire (Initial training and initial US FAR 135.297, 135.293, 135.299 completed for Day, Night, NVG, IFR operations). Required - The Chief Pilot must have a strong work ethic with the ability to effectively communicate with the public, peers and senior management. Required - Pilots employed in this position shall maintain a weight not to exceed 270 pounds and shall be less than seventy (70) years old.
