The Pricing Manager is responsible for preparing the pricing organization for future success as the subject matter expert in the products while delivering analytics and reasoning behind the price points delivered. This position is responsible for creating and building dashboards with a hunter mentality of seeking out external data resources in the mission to understand both the market and competition. A go-to for pricing and ratemaking policies, processes, data sources and templates/tools. Partners with business units to develop and implement best-in-class pricing strategies and build capabilities and tools that generate impact.
Essential Functions:
- Define pricing issues and identify how pricing facts, data, and decisions link to overall business strategy.
- Maintain a broad understanding of the business along with becoming educated on partners, customers, and competition.
- Analyze the macro market and internal business factors to strategically price products to maximize margin.
- Document and Organize assumptions, methods, sources, and considerations
- Utilize reports of findings and creates appropriate materials to communicate the findings.
- Act as a thought leader providing practical recommendations and contributing to team discussions on implications of analysis; identifying implementation challenges.
- Clearly define risks and opportunities within deal structures so that business leaders can make informed decisions.
- Monitor pricing outcomes to actual results and integrate learning into pricing methodology.
- Retrieve and manipulates data, accountable for suitability and accuracy of data.
- Apply appropriate data mining techniques to discover new relationships in the data. Identify, evaluate and document new techniques, methodologies and software to support research projects. Develops project plans to support research projects.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain pricing tools, Salesforce CPQ.
- Lead pricing-related projects including establishing timelines, defining deliverables, and drafting communications or presentations
- Complete ad-hoc projects, analysis and other duties as assigned.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, math, business, or related analytical discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a business unit (e.g., finance, pricing, actuarial, product) or combined experience and educational equivalent.
- Demonstrates complex problem resolution proficiency
- Experience in analyzing large data sets, identifying trends and patterns preferred. Synthesize findings, develop recommendations, and communicate results to internal teams.
- Advanced skills in Excel, Salesforce CPQ, or other analytical tools
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Self-Starter with analytical, evaluative and data-driven mindset
- Must be well organized and possess a sense of urgency.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, business, or related analytical discipline.
- Price optimization, price elasticity and customer segmentation experience a plus
