What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Research Tech I position at Actalent?
Description:
The Animal Research Technician I will perform daily animal husbandry duties following the appropriate standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements required in the area. This includes but is not limited to the following feeding of animals cleaning kennels socializing and training animals. Assisting Research Technicians II-V with medical needs of the animals such as recovering animal from anesthesia restraining animal for bandage changes or blood draws.
Appropriate care and husbandry for the applicable species.
Accurate documentation and data collection.
Collaborate with team to ensure tasks are completed.
Coverage of weekend and holiday shifts.
This position will include either Saturday or Sunday as a core working day.
Know and maintain compliance with GLP FDA USDA AAALAC IACUC and all other applicable regulations and guidelines as they apply to the non-clinical research environment.
Adhere to standard operating procedures work instructions department guidelines policies and study protocols when completing the following:
Animal Husbandry
Animal Handling
Animal Observation
Documentation
Data Collection
Housekeeping
Stocking Supplies
Maintaining Equipment
Cageroom Rotation
Participate in the overall function of the Research Operations department which may include:
Late shift coverage
Animal/employee training
Study support
Process Improvement processes
Support of department goals
Weekend and holiday shift coverage is a requirement of this position.
Perform computer and clerical functions to ensure organized and accurate reporting of animal observations tasks and data collection.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Highschool diploma (minimum)
0-2 years exerience working with animals (preclinical, research, farm)
Proven experience maintaining a job and reliability - get in reference
