What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer/Planner position at Actalent?
Responsibilities:
Analyze incoming requisitions and shortage reports for quality, specification, pricing and delivery requirements Analyze and respond
to MRP/Constraint Planning Tool signals for purchasing Generate the most suitable purchasing arrangement such as contracts, blanket orders and vendor
stocking arrangements to streamline and obtain optimum pricing. Convert requisitions, prepare and issue purchase orders, expedite deliveries, resolve
payment issues Maintain computerized purchasing system database, investigate inventory discrepancies and resolve delivery/receiving and quality problems with
suppliers Work within a strong Quality System [ISO 13485] to improve systems and maintain high standards Select and interface with all suppliers to assure
quality piece parts at the lowest cost to support build schedule Support and cover for the planning functions as required Manage inventories, monitor usage
and purchase assigned goods and services while working to maintain or improve quality, on time delivery, and price Solicit competitive bids, evaluate
proposals, obtain necessary purchasing approvals, negotiate or assist in the negotiation of contract terms, and expedite orders to ensure contract terms are
met Maintain direct contact with suppliers to ensure the quality and quantity of products, parts, and services to meet established performance objectives
Assist with supplier audits as required Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Proven practical experience purchasing in a manufacturing/scientific research environment
- Thorough knowledge of procurement, vendor relations, material planning and inventory management
- Familiar with GMP’s, product specifications incoming inspection procedures
- Effective verbal and written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Must have the ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations.
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (ideally SAP), word processing, spreadsheets, project management, etc Must be willing and able to travel CPIM
- or CPM certification desirable Ability to interface well with cross-functional teammates and have strong interpersonal skills A desire to be a part of highly
- motivated team in a fast pace dynamic environment In depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook required.
