Chemist

Actalent is hiring for an entry level chemist in the Lake Bluff, IL area. This is a great opportunity to work hands on in the laboratory.

Description:

• General Wet Chemistry Lab Testing (pipetting, viscosity, boiling point, etc)
• Training on instrumentation (automatic pipetting machine, Gas Chromatography, IR spectrometer)
• Lab Testing:
  • routine jobs associated with the testing and approving of chemical and blends.
  • Incoming, intermediate and final chemical inspection of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods
• Documentation:
  • Documentation of test results, status and chemical non-conformances.
  • Maintenance of quality records. Verification of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods versus established specifications.
  • Generation of certificates of analysis. USP testing, documentation, routine monograph testing, when applicable.
• When applicable (not routine)
  • Inspection of USP containers and tankers
  • Gauging, sampling, and documentation of incoming ethanol shipments
  • Performance of quality jobs as required for backup or peak loads
• Skills:
  • Need to be able to pick up on chemistry testing, and keep up with a faster pace of testing while maintaining quality
  • Be able to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision- learn and follow SOPs
  • Be able to manage time and set individual agenda when it comes to testing (after training)
  • Need to be able to collaborate and communicate with other team members and supervisor

Skills & Qualifications:

• A BS/BA degree in Chemistry or other related science fields.
• Knowledge of modern quality principles & modern industrial quality practices preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess typing, filing and basic PC skills.
• Windows and Microsoft Office experience a plus.
