Description:
As a Cloud Security Software Engineer, you will develop, modify, and debug ansible, python, pytest-testinfra scripts to securely harden various cloud components using Center for Internet Security benchmarks. Examples of cloud components we harden are the OS, Docker Containers, Kubernetes, Web Servers (Apache Tomcat, NGINX), Jump hosts, etc. You are passionate, highly motivated, and eager to affect meaningful impact, and to develop new skills. With a zeal for innovation & learning you are comfortable diving into business & technical subjects outside of your comfort zone About the team: • We build starting point secure images for Cisco in the cloud. (AWS/GCP are looking at Azure now, and some consumers are trying to do Linux hardening (internal servers or data centers- lockdown and comply; we also do a good amount of Windows hardening, too) o Offer as an engineering service for our teams/clients. o US Government- we help teams reach SOC2; compliance framework FEDRAMP (the team is meeting these requirements) STIG hardenings- US GOV- we have worked with CIS for a long time but are not adding STIG hardening. CIS- Center for Internet Security; non-profit that writes specifications to lock down Linux servers, etc. • Number of large businesses that operate in the Cloud, SAS offerings.

minimum requirements for this role: 1. You must be able to produce proof of U.S. Citizenship. No dual citizenship. (required as we work in gov-cloud spaces) 2. You have a B.S in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or EE 3. You have 1-3 Years of Software Development experience using an OO language 4. You possess a good understanding of Cloud Computing fundamentals. 5. You are experienced with one or more Cloud Platforms - Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, OpenStack or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) 6. You have experience with Linux. 7. You are experienced with Ansible, including Developing/Updating Ansible Roles. 8. You have experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub/Bitbucket, Jenkins, Bamboo, etc. 9. You possess excellent problem solving and troubleshooting/debugging skills 10. You have excellent verbal and written skills 11. You are able to establish and sustain excellent relationships with an extended team Desired Skills 1. A consummate team-player, you possess outstanding listening, collaboration & communication skills 2. You have proficiency in one or more of Python and Pytest -testinfra plugin 3. You have experience with Windows OS/Server 4. You are experienced with commonly used open source software components such as Containers, web servers, databases, message brokers, etc. 5. You have experience in Agile Kanban development process Technical Experience: • MUST BE US Citizenship • SOC2, GOVCLOUD, STIGS, FEDRAMP- Keywords would be interesting if the candidate has experience with any of these frameworks. • No Application development o Creating scripts for infrastructure as code (automaton) • Ansible- open-source project; language that helps configure systems; configuration of various Linux OS in a specific way you couldn't do with just Python.
