Job Title: Construction Estimator
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimator or Chief Estimator to join our dynamic construction team. The successful candidate will be pivotal in accurately estimating the costs, including time, materials, labor, and equipment, for various construction projects from conceptual design to Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP). Your role will involve analyzing project documents, coordinating the flow of information with subcontractors and suppliers, evaluating quantity and cost information, and assembling deliverables for both hard bid and negotiated work. This position also requires maintaining solid relationships with clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet client needs consistently. This role requires the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, multitask, and work well under pressure to meet competing deadlines while ensuring workplace safety and promptly reporting issues to the project team.
Required Skills
- At least 4 years of commercial construction estimating experience required, with a strong preference for candidates with 10 years of preconstruction/estimating and/or operational experience on commercial construction projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering or equivalent degree preferred but not required.
- Knowledgeable in commercial site construction, foundation and structural systems, and various other construction systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word), MS Outlook, Sage, AutoCAD, and other relevant software.
- Advanced ability in Microsoft Excel for spreadsheet creation and manipulation.
- Experience with bid management, online plan rooms, and database applications.
- Ability to read, understand and organize construction plans and specifications.
- USGBC LEED accreditation and professional Estimator Certification are preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal structure/supervision while exercising great judgment.
- Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills with a CAN-DO attitude.
- Resourcefulness and diligence in seeking solutions to problems and adapting to new situations.
