What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at Actalent?
A large, well-known construction management firm in the Philadelphia area is hiring an Estimator to join their team. This position is open as they are looking to train the "next generation" of estimators for their team.
Job Description:
- Preparing budgetary, conceptual and competitive bid estimates for commercial construction projects while maintaining a proper balance between the profitability of the company and the achievement of total customer satisfaction.
- Provide estimating services that consist of labor and material quantity take-offs as required.
- Perform pre-construction services.
- Develop and/or understands the full parameters of the project scope.
- Perform bidding and estimating project lead tasks and present estimates to clients.
- Attend pre-bid and de-scope meetings with clients.
- Develop a basis of scope for bidding and estimating purposes.
- Qualify all estimates and bids relative to scope.
- Review Change Orders and negotiate with Owners, Architects and Subcontractors.
- Develop project logistics and assist with planning and scheduling the work.
- Manage workloads according to department deadlines, commitments, and priorities.
- Foster positive relationships with internal and exterior customers, subcontractors, and design professionals.
- Assist in value engineering and constructability analysis.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of Estimating Experience for a Construction Management Firm, General Contractor, Etc.
- Experience purchasing as you must be able to negotiate
- Preconstruction experience
- Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or Engineering required
